Kat Eaton

Having already toured the UK/EU supporting various artists (Jools Holland, Marc Broussard, The Teskey Brothers, Mama’s Gun), selling out multiple headlines shows in London, co-writing with the likes of Ruby Turner, Caro Emerald and Andy Platts (Mama’s Gun/Young Gun Silver Fox) and breaking through to new territories via the national radio airwaves of Holland and Belgium, Kat has established herself as one of the hardest working and talented performers in her field.

Whereas some debut albums show artists still finding their feet and sonic direction, Kat is unashamedly bold & confident in her abilities as a vocalist and songwriter, effortlessly merging Soul, and classic R&B throughout a mature and well rounded 10 tracks. Utilising completely live instrumentation (a must for Kat), ‘Talk To Me’ takes the classic vintage sound of inspirations such as Barbara Lynn and Lesley Gore and updates it with contemporary embellishments and relatable lyrics for the 21st century.

Less an artist in ascendancy, ‘Talk To Me’ solidifies Kat’s place as an artist already at the top of their game and now ready to share the fruits of years of hard work to the world.

The Masterlink Sessions house band

“Stefan, you know what the Funk is all about.” (Fred Wesley/James Brown, Parliament)

The London based Redtenbacher’s Funkestra is the brainchild of bassist, composer and producer Stefan Redtenbacher. This original and mostly instrumental wall-to-wall Jazz Funk horn band has about 20 released to their name - ‘The Hang’  being the latest one, currently number one win the weekly top 50 Funk album chart according to the Roots Music Report.

more

They have recorded with the who-is-who from the London Jazz Funk scene including legends of the Jazz Funk world like Fred Wesley, Alfred ‘Pee Wee’ Ellis from James Brown, Stephen ‘Doc’ Kupka, Lee Thornburg and Lenny Pickett from Tower of Power, Cory Wong (Vulfpeck), Eric Krazno (Lettuce), Stanton Moore (Galactic), drum virtuoso Benny Greb, Elliott Randall and Keith Carlock (Steely Dan), titanic saxophone players Rick Margitza (Miles Davis Band), Chris Hunter (Gil Evans Orchestra), Andy Snitzer (Paul Simon), Prince’s New Power Generation horn section (aka ‘The Hornheads’) and many of the horn players from Incognito, Brand New Heavies and many more.

Their records have been released on Wooden Hat Records (USA), Pedigree Cuts/Universal (UK)

and Stefan’s own label RSB Records leading to performances in the USA, Germany, Austria, Holland the UK where they played for circa 15 years at the renown 606 club on a regular basis.

In the last 5 years they have clocked up an impressive 2.32 million streams on Spotify only and their music has also been publicly performed by small and big bands in Austria, USA, Germany, Holland, UK and Denmark.

Over the past two years the Funkestra rhythm section has served as the studio house band for ‘The Masterlink Sessions’ and have fully embraced a broader range of styles and supporting vocalists. The has resulted in 50+ videos and album and EP recordings with Grammy award winning Mike Farris, Hamish Stuart (‘Pick Up The Pieces’ Average White Band and Ringo Starr All Stars), Sarah Jane Morris, Jo Harman and many more from the ‘credible’ end of emerging elite vocalists and artists.

It was Stefan’s dream to morph the band into a zeitgeist equivalent of the legendary studio bands from Motown (Funkbrothers), Stax Records (Booker T & The MGs/Mar-Keys) and Muscle Shoals (‘The Swampers’) respectively by setting up a mini-Nashville production house in the Surrey Hills in the UK.

Whilst Booker T. & The MG’s continued to be the studio house band for Otis Redding and stablemates, they kept on releasing albums under their own name - in this Stefan has found his blue-print for all his activities in the years to come.

As a sideman Stefan Redtenbacher has performed and or recorded with artists like Sam Moore (Sam & Dave), Jack Bruce (Cream), Lulu, Amy Winehouse, Kiki Dee, Beverly Knight, Joss Stone, Sam Brown, Herb Alpert, Imelda May, Natalie Imbrugila, Paul Carrack, Mica Paris, Gerry Beckley (America) and many more.

Masterlink

‘Live at Masterlink’ was born out of the ‘Masterlink Sessions’: invited guests performing 100% live in the studio with the studio house band beautifully filmed by videographer Leo Mansell from Shoot and Splice.

Extended out from the series of popular videos the team have now expanded their offering by organising circa 20 min live-stream concerts, not only from the house band with their invited guests but also other artists and bands sharing the community values.

This is our own spin on ‘Daryl’s House’ and ‘NPR Tiny Desk Concerts’ from leafy Surrey, Great Britain.

The ‘Masterlink Sessions’ are a joint venture of Stefan Redtenbacher (Redtenbacher's Funkestra), James Welch (Masterlink Productions) and Leo Mansell (Shoot and Splice) to strengthen the community of creative and like-minded musicians who love music with timeless values, played live and for real. The sessions initially became most known for featuring noted international artists in the genres of funk, soul, blues and jazz, but more recently this has been extended to include a wider, more unbounded remit that features rock, 'Americana', singer-songwriters and more.

more

The intention is always to record 100% live in the studio, nodding towards the great studio bands of the ‘60s like The Funk Brothers (Motown), The Swampers (Muscle Shoals) and The Mar-Keys (Staxs). Capturing the energy and chemistry between the artist and the 'crack' studio band is at the heart of all their recordings, all videoed by film maker Leo Mansell, further reflecting the 'organic' nature of the proceedings.

So far, over 50 videos have been produced featuring artists such as Hamish Stuart (AWB, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr), Sarah Jane Morris, US Grammy award winning Mike Farris, Jo Harman, Orphy Robinson MBE, Louise Clare Marshall (Jools Holland) and many more. Masterlink aims to not only feature some of the most established and respected names in the business, but also give a platform for emerging artists who truly have the talent to perform at the required level. Its 'A&R' advisory team includes BiGiAM Artist Services and other management organisations geared to supporting credible artists with like-minded values.

The studio house band (a.k.a. the Funkestra) generally runs as a small collective of international, yet UK-based world-class musicians (with CV's to prove it - think Bowie, Elton John, Annie Lennox, Mark Ronson & more) which, at its core, comprises:

Stefan Redtenbacher (bs, producer) Mike Sturgis (drs), Karl Vanden Bossche (perc), Mike Outram/Tony Remy (gtr), Ross Stanley (keys)
